What is Humanistic Psychotherapy?
Humanistic Psychotherapy is framed within the idea that all of us persons are unique and unrepeatable. We carry a history, are bound to specific circumstances and have our own future aspirations and dreams.
We are more than just instincts and responses to stimuli. We are, in fact, open systems, susceptible to change.
These are the five basic postulates of Humanistic Psychology:
1. Human beings, as human, are more than merely the sum of their parts. They cannot be reduced to component parts or functions.
2. Human beings exist in a uniquely human context, as well as in a cosmic ecology.
3. Human beings are aware and aware of being aware-i.e., they are conscious. Human consciousness potentially includes an awareness of oneself in the context of other people and the cosmos.
4. Human beings have some choice, and with that, responsibility.
5. Human beings are intentional, aim at goals, are aware that they cause future events, and seek meaning, value and creativity.

What can Humanistic Psychotherapy do for me?
Sometimes, we would like to be more happy, more free, more authentic.
Sometimes, we feel blocked or lost in one or more aspects of our lives. It could be because of a certain event (e.g. important life change like moving to another country, a separation), or perhaps because we are facing a dilemma and find it difficult to make a decision, or because we might not be satisfied with our relationships or our jobs… and perhaps it is a matter of wanting to find meaning in life.
We all face moments in which we need alternative approaches to reconnect with ourselves and see life from a new and refreshing perspective.
I can offer you support and guidance so that we together can understand how to grow towards the true You, fully present and comfortable, and work on becoming that. I will be there to accompany you while you learn how to walk on that new path that will arise when you discover how to walk in freedom.
A little bit more about Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapy:
The model I follow integrates concepts from several schools of humanistic psychotherapy. Its goal is to reach an holistic and systemic interpretation of the personality and behaviour, and consequently provide the appropriate therapy.
The main schools integrated in the model are: Gestalt (F. Perls), Transactional Analysis (E. Berne), Body Psychotherapies (such as Bioenergy from A. Lowen which I very much infused with yoga), constructivism (G. Kelly), C. Rogers’ person-centered therapy, Focusing (E. Gendlin).
As I come from the Yoga world, I very much use techniques to create awareness of the present moment (mindfulness) as well as body movements and postures aimed to open the body and subsequently the mind.
Can I have Integrative Humanistic Psychotherrapy sessions in my own language?
Since I am fluent in these languages, I am happy to offer sessions in English, Spanish, Catalan, French and Italian.
